Duc founded USI Tech after gaining more than ten years of industry experience in reservoir engineering working for Apache Corp and Hess Corp. He began his early career with Apache’s engineering development program, and later joined Apache’s Corporate Reservoir Engineering group where he worked Corporate Reserves and Business Development focusing on Anadarko Basin, Permian Basin and Canada. He also held various positions of increasing responsibilities in Hess’s New Venture and Business Development across China, Williston Basin, Canada and Permian Basin. He holds a BSc with Honors in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Texas.

Mr. Tharp is a Principal and Chief Engineer for GSO Capital as a member of the energy investment team. Prior to joining GSO in early 2013, he worked for five years at EIG Global Energy Partners, most recently as Senior Vice President, where he worked on a wide variety of transactions in the energy space totaling over $5B. Mr Tharp served on the boards of BlackBrush Oil & Gas, Tarpon Operating & Development and Talon Midstream. For three years prior to EIG, he was a Director of NGP Capital Resources Company where he concentrated on origination, evaluation and structuring of upstream mezzanine investments. Before NGPC, Mr. Tharp worked for nine years as a Senior Vice President with Compass Bank in the Energy Group where he was responsible for all technical evaluations of the energy credits. Prior to Compass, he spent 12 years in the upstream energy industry working as a Reservoir and Production engineer for Texas Eastern, Howell Petroleum and Coastal Oil and Gas. Mr. Tharp received a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. Mr. Tharp serves on the Board and is Past President of the Periwinkle Foundation a non-profit cancer charity serving Texas Children's Hospital.

Prior to Wells Fargo, John was at Fidelity E&P with responsibilities in corporate reserves, acquisitions and operations. Corporate Reserves Engineering Manager
Allen LaBryer is the Corporate Reserves Engineering Manager for BPX Energy in Denver. His team is responsible for managing a diversified oil and gas portfolio with over 2.4 Bboe of proved reserves and 11.3 Bboe of resource across the continental United States. Prior to BPX, Allen worked at SandRidge Energy in Oklahoma City and served as a Lecturer at the University of Oklahoma. Allen earned a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Oklahoma with a specialty in fluid dynamics and a BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan.
Chigozie Aniemena holds a PhD in petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from Penn State University. He currently works as a reservoir engineer (corporate) for BPX Energy having previously worked for Baker Hughes as a consultant reservoir engineer. Chigozie specializes in developing advanced workflows for well performance characterization, diagnosis and optimization in tight reservoirs with emphasis on predictive rate transient analytics and applied reservoir simulation. Additional areas of work and interest include hydrocarbon thermodynamics and reserves assessment.
Dr. John Lee

John Lee is Professor of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University. John holds BS, MS and PhD degrees in chemical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He worked for ExxonMobil early in his career and specialized in integrated reservoir studies. He later joined the Petroleum Engineering faculty at Texas A&M, and became Regents Professor of Petroleum Engineering. While at A&M, he also served as a consultant with S.A. Holditch & Associates, where he specialized in reservoir engineering aspects of unconventional gas resources. He joined the University of Houston faculty in September 2011 and held the Cullen Distinguished University Chair until September 2015. He served as an Academic Engineering Fellow with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) in Washington during 2007-8, and was a principal architect of the modernized SEC rules for reporting oil and gas reserves. John is the author of four textbooks published by SPE and has received numerous awards from SPE, including the Lucas Medal, the DeGolyer Distinguished Service Medal and Honorary Membership. He is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.

Brent graduated from Texas A&M with a BSc. degree in Chemical Engineering in 2012. He spent the first 11 years of his career working for Haas Petroleum Engineering Services (independent consulting firm) as a reservoir engineer. His work at Haas included preparation of field studies and reserves reports for public and private oil and gas companies. He has experience working in reservoirs across the lower 48 with an expertise in unconventional resources. In 2014 he accepted a position as V.P. of Engineering at R. Lacy Services (an East Texas E&P company established in 1946). His responsibilities at R. Lacy include internal reserves analysis, development planning, and A&D evaluation.

Peng Ye, PhD is a Principal Reservoir Engineer for Equinor, focusing on the Appalacian, Eagleford and Bakken basins. His work focuses on using Aries to perform economic evaluation for AFE, constructing type curves for assets based on RTA and decline curve analysis, and facilitating the asset digital transformation. He holds a PhD in Energy and Mineral Engineering from Penn State University.
Manoj Devashish is a Director in Citigroup’s Global Energy Finance Group. He has over 27 years of experience in areas of petroleum engineering and corporate & investment banking. Prior to Citi, his work experience includes: Baker Hughes, HLS Asia Limited, a joint venture of Halliburton Company, Indus Investors Service, T.J. Smith & Company, and Wachovia Capital Markets, now a part of Wells Fargo. Manoj is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas and an active member of SPE and SPEE. Fred has over 25 years of industry experience developing major international projects with ExxonMobil as well as oil and gas resource plays with Hess & BHP. He has been involved in data analytics development in drilling and reservoir engineering applications while serving as global subsurface director at Weatherford. He has played a major role in tight gas development pioneering multifracture horizontal well evaluation solutions in Germany’s Rothliegendes tight sands in early 1990’s. Fred earned his master’s degree in petroleum engineering from Montanuniversität Leoben in Austria and has published several papers on tight gas and shale appraisal. He is committed to mentoring engineers and geoscientists from diverse backgrounds.

David S. Fulford is a Sr. Staff Reservoir Engineer, Exploration Evaluation, at Apache Corporation. He has 12 years of industry experience with Apache and, previously, Devon Energy. His current work focuses on portfolio modeling and real options-based project characterization for long-term capital guidance, which incorporates production surveillance, stochastic modeling, risk & uncertainty quantification, and estimation de-biasing & calibration. Fulford earned a BS in petroleum engineering from Texas Tech University in 2006, and is currently pursuing an MS in petroleum engineering at Texas A&M. He has authored 8 technical papers, and served on the URTeC program selection committee for the past 3 years. Randy Freeborn is a subject matter expert in the field of empirical forecasting, type wells and related technology. Currently, he is the Principal Industry Advisor at Aucerna where he is responsible for identifying and inventing engineering technology for inclusion in the company’s reserve management software. He has been a professional engineer for 44 years and is a member of SPEE and SPE. Freeborn has prepared numerous technical papers for presentation at conferences, workshops and industry meetings. He has given guest lectures at the University of Houston and Texas A&M, and has been called as an expert witness.

Mike Snyder is a Reservoir Engineer at Covey Park Energy in Dallas. He has 7 years of industry experience holding previous roles as Manager of Reserves Reporting at Eclipse Resources and Field Engineer at Universal Well Services. Richard Cao is a principle reservoir engineer at Shell Unconventionals Permian Asset with 17 years’ experience in industry. Richard has integrated experience of reservoir engineering, research, national labs, and field operations. Richard holds 10 patents and contributed to over 30 articles that had been cited over 800 times internationally. Richard Cao has a Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University, and a Bachelor degree from Tsinghua University.
Jim has been in the Oil and Gas Industry as an engineer, engineering manager, hedge manager, planning manager and consultant for 40 years. He started with Amoco, spent most of his non-consulting career with Maxus/YPF/Repsol, and is currently an Industry Consultant with Aucerna, specializing in Portfolio Management and in large multi-product deployment. He lives in Dallas, Texas with his wife, and has a grown daughter living in Houston.

Ace is the Manager of Oil and Gas Fundamental’s Analysis for Constellation Energy, an energy company with a market capital of $43B. In this role his team forecasts oil and gas production and activity for the entire U.S. This analysis is then used to forecast natural gas prices and power prices for the company. Prior to this role, Ace managed Constellation’s entry and exit into the upstream oil/gas investments. During this 12 years Constellation made investments in most of the US shale and unconventional plays. Before joining Constellation, Ace was Business Development Manager and Reserves Manger for El Paso Corporation and Unocal. Ace graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He has served on several industry committees which focused on risk, reserves, economics and uncertainty. He has also been a presenter at several industry conferences and workshops on the same topics and is co-author of the SPE Paper Risk Analysis: Lessons Learned.

Jennifer Fitzgerald joined Anadarko Petroleum Corporation in 2014 and is currently Corporate Reserves QA/QC Manager. Prior to joining Anadarko, Jennifer worked at Ryder Scott Company and ExxonMobil Corporation. She has extensive experience evaluating a variety of conventional and unconventional assets in basins around the world. Jennifer is an industry expert in SEC and SPE-PRMS reserves definitions. Jennifer earned a BS degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. She is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers, currently serving as Executive Committee President and as a Member for Monograph 5. Rod Sidle is an independent consultant serving software provider Aucerna, training provider PetroSkills and other oil and gas industry clients. His industry experience, including 35 years with Shell Oil Company/Royal Dutch Shell, has primarily been in reservoir engineering and economics with a focus on reserves estimation. Rod is a member of SPEE, where he is currently the Chair of the Reserves Definition Committee, and a former member of the Board of Directors. He is also a member of SPE who has previously served as SPE Distinguished Lecturer and member of the SPE Oil and Gas Reserves Committee. Mr. Harrell is a Petroleum Engineering graduate of Louisiana Tech University and continues as Chairman Emeritus of Ryder Scott Company, Petroleum Consultants. Ron remains active in the industry as a licensed engineer in three states and serves on several Management and Advisory Boards including corporations, not-for-profit organizations and three universities. He is a Senior Advisor to RSK(UK)LTD, Board member of eCORP International plus Energy Advisory positions for The Carlyle Group and Morgan Stanley private equity energy divisions. He is a founding member and immediate past Chairman of the UH Petroleum Engineering Advisory Board and an active member of the UH Subsea Engineering Program since its formation. Shadi Salahshoor is a reservoir engineer at 89 Energy. Her work focuses on applying AI/ML models to subsurface and production metrics, and integrating reservoir data analytics with deterministic analysis to estimate and optimize production potential using different drilling, completion, and production strategies. She is currently a PhD candidate in petroleum engineering at the University of Oklahoma.
Thad Toups, P.E. is the President & Owner of Haas Engineering, in Dallas, Texas. Since 1980, Haas Engineering has provided reservoir engineering and evaluation services to the Oil & Gas community. Thad has over 15 years’ of evaluation experience covering nearly all domestic plays and is considered a key resource by the industry in technology, data analysis, and reservoir engineering best practices. Prior to joining Haas Engineering in 2004, Thad worked as a process engineer for Citgo’s Corpus Christi refinery.
